While in driving school i found my self on the defensive allot. I was always trying tobedefensive ofthe bogus answers I came up with to questions I did not know the answers to. I never felt I would pass the class because of all the difficult questions that were on the tests. I mean how can anyone pass a test when they do not understand the material. So my mother who had told me ifIdid not pass the test I would not be receiving the brand new car she had bought for my seventeenth birthday. I waited tillIwas seventeen to take the drivingcourses because of I knew I did not understand cars. What teenage girl does understand cars. Anyways I stopped being defensive and started telling the teacher every time I needed a little extra help with a certain topic. Eventually I had to begin to start taking the actual driving part of the school. This was even more difficult then the book stuff. I never felt safe in the drivers seat and i am sure that my driving coach did not feel safe in the passengers seat. I messedup alotandran over about every cone in my sight. I told my mom and she herself decided to be brave and teach me in her car. I could not believe she was that brave. She observed my every reaction in the car and told me what she had noticed about my responses to certain noises and movements the car would make. She had said she realized that the reasonI could not relax was because I was too scared and felt overwhelmed. She calmed me down and made me feel safe enough to realize I was focusing on all the wrong things.Icared to much about what the people around me would think of me when i failed and not enough aboutthe task at hand. So I started over and visualized being alone. Afterwhat was probably thelongest hourof my life,I was driving. I could not believe it, I was driving!I thanked her and insisted on her driving me straight to the school to show my instructor.
