My dad gave me a used motorbike for driving to school last year but my mom is being a real pain about it. She says she can't afford the expensive insurance and that I have no business riding a motorbike anyways. What she fails to understand is that my school is very far away and it takes me over an hour to get there in the mornings, in the evenings I get home after it's dark and it feels the whole day is gone and I have no spare time for anything else.

I understand that she might be a bit worried about me having an accident, after all a motorbike can be more dangerous than a car. But if she was really worried about me then why doesn't she buy me a car herself instead of sending me on public transportation that takes hours and hours.

I am being a good student in school, I have a passing grade for all my classes. I don't hang out with the wrong people, mostly because I don't have the time. Still, she keeps going on and on about insurance prices and me being a young driver. I wish she would make an effort on my part and help me get this all sorted out so I can drive my bike and have more time for a personal life.

I called the insurance company and they require that I take some driving lessons before I can get insured. The cost of the classes is quite high and I don't think that my mom will go for it at all, again I will have to hear the lecture about extra expenses and how I am being very difficult.

Sometimes I think it's not all about expenses, I think my mom misses my dad and she is having a hard time dealing with a household all by herself. Maybe she is right about my dad buying our affection and not helping out much, in fact he has been of no help to me either when it comes to school and other things I am going through. I think I will listen to my mom a bit more and stop my whining. After all she is the one that is here for me everyday.
