The time had finally come to clean out the garage.I Knew that this was going to be a big job.I had a look around at skip hire costs and decided it was going to be an expensive operation if I was to hire a skip. for a start there was that rusty old scooter that would fill half a skip on its own. There was all kinds of junk alongside the scooter and you had to push the junk aside every time you wanted to pass through. I contacted local schools to see if they would like the scooter to use in shop class but none of the local schools were interested in anything that dilapidated even if would help a student pass high school. Schools aren't what they used to be. The only way to clear the garage was to borrow a van from a friend this would be easy as i am in the construction business and many of my buddies have trucks. Infact I had only recently sent my truck to the big junk yard in the sky. I called Ben the foreman of a site I had recently been working on. We had become good friends over the period of my contract and I knew he would be more than willing to help. Ben did not pass at the opportunity for a reunion andcame over the next weekend and we began to clear the garage and empty the contents into his truck. The truck was a large dusty seven tonne ford and contents of the garage went easily inside alongside the scooter was a tin bath,some old railway sleepers,some scaffolding, and so on and so on the list was endless and the work was backbreaking and bit by bit the garage was empty and the truck was filled . The problem that still remained was exactly what we were going to do with two tonnes of junk and scrap metal. Ben knew of a place he thought he could sell a deal of the scrap metal. the price of scrap had rocketed due to the surge in industry in China. The contents of the garage netted $200 dollars. I gave half to Ben and we both went home tired and happy.
